Kirsten Baskett (b 1970) grew up in a large family in rural Norfolk. The daughter of a goldsmith father and a cartoon animator mother- media and materials to make things were at her disposal from an early age and these became her playthings.
Kirsten studied MA Visual Arts at Camberwell and during this time her work explored memory through objects which have developed a patina through intense or prolonged human use, fusing sculpture and printmaking through the use of both traditional and digital processes, in order to push the boundaries of Printmaking.
Her favourite sculptor is Bill Woodrow- particularly admiring his clever series called ‘Cutting It’ and in the Printmaking World, Ed Ruscha’s ‘Sin’ 1970 Screenprint
