Juliet Rose is a full time artist living in South London and has been exhibiting for 22 years. She studied a BA at The University of Westminster and an MA at The City & Guilds of London Art School.

She has shown extensively in the USA and UK with shows in New York, Washington, New Mexico and Florida. She has had reviews in the Washington Post, FRM Magazine, Women in Art, South London magazines and papers, interviews on the radio and one of her paintings was chosen as the first prize in a Children in Need Charity Auction. She has had countless shows around the UK over the last 22 years and her work is in one public collection and numerous private collections, including a member of the Board of Trustees of The Tate Gallery and British Museum.

Juliet’s paintings are abstract, angular, striking and entirely unique.
The inspiration behind her work comes from two profound experiences: the first was the discovery of a tobacco tin filled with keys, nails, screws and pins etc that her father, who was a refugee, brought with him to England as a child. The second, was a quote she heard regarding an individual’s experience of a traumatic memory. In this quote, the journey of this memory was likened to a stone being thrown into a pond. At first the ripples are dramatic and disturb the surface. After some time, the water becomes still again and peace is resumed on the surface, but the stone still remains.

The current expression of those influences, is one from a position of safety and distance. We are viewing those nails and pins as the fractured stone under water, in the sky, in space, from the top of a building, but always with a sense of light, space and safe distance.

Her paintings borrow from the Modernist, Futurist and Post Minimalist art movements, with inspiration from architecture, poetry and literature.
