Born in Epsom, Surrey in 1980, Jake Mee graduated from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in 2005 and has assisted several renowned artists in the UK and the US. Earlier this year, Jake exhibited at the International Festival of Glass in Stourbridge and will be amongst the artists in its publication “The British Glass Biennale 2006”. Jake Mee’s aim is to communicate the fragility of beauty and nature in his works of glass. The cutting and polishing process is of utmost importance, resulting in works consisting of contrasting smooth lines and sharp edges, emphasising form and colour. Jake believes in taking on the entire process of creation himself, ensuring that the work has an artistic integrity that reflects his true inspiration. He is influenced by nature and organic forms and will continue to be for as long as he finds new ideas for design hidden amongst all of nature’s secrets.
