Sarah Graham’s paintings evolve from photographs, carefully translating images of miniature toys using oil on canvas. She is interested in exploiting the camera’s depiction of focus and blur to create the illusion of three-dimensionality, and takes great pleasure in reproducing these effects in paint. The recognisable, playful nature of her subject matter creates engaging images the viewer can easily identify with and perhaps suggest a narrative of their own. For this series of paintings, Sarah has dramatically cropped the initial photo, creating a sense that the image is part of a much greater whole. Since graduating in 2000 with a BA in Fine Art, Sarah has exhibited widely at galleries throughout the UK, as well as several international art fairs in New York, Melbourne and Sydney.
